COCKROACH IDENTIFICATION
AMERICAN COCKROACH
Scientific Name: Periplaneta americana
General Size: Adults are approximately 1-1/2 inches long
Reddish brown, both males and females have fully developed wings The male wings cover the entire length of the abdomen, while the female wings are about the same length as the abdomen. Nymphs are smaller, but do not have wings.
BROWN BANDED COCKROACH
Scientific Name: Supella longipalpa
General Size: 1/2 inch long or smaller
Males are light brown, with fully developed wings. Females are shorter with shorter wings.
Both adults and nymphs have two brownish, broad bands across the body at the base of the abdomen and at mid-abdomen
GERMAN COCKROACH
Scientific Name: Blattella germanica
General Size: 13-16 mm
Light brown or tan coloration with two black horizontal stripes located behind the head. Nymphs, or young, are smaller and darker in color.
